Description
Fresh from a sequence of rock solid EPs on Frustrated Funk, Reedale Rise (AKA producer Simon Keat) helps launch debutant label When We Met. In keeping with the vast majority of his output, the Broken Land EP presents a series of glistening, melodious, intergalactic electro workouts, superbly supplemented by an awe-inspiring dash of Motor City techno revivalism (the hissing hi-hats, spacey synth motifs and sun-ripe electronics of “Plasma Potential”). Of the included electro cuts, it’s arguably the dreamy and melancholic “Moroz” and sparkling “HYpersleep” that stand out, though opener “Broken Land” – a track that effortlessly joins the dots between mid ’90s intelligent techno and early breakbeat hardcore – is also top-notch.
